FIC Report (Osun State) – The Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke has presented #390,208,277,740 2025 budget estimates to the Osun State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
The proposed 2025 budget estimates tagged “Budget of Sustainable growth and Transformation ” presented to the house is aimed for the development and transformation of the entire state.
Governor Ademola Adeleke in his speech noted that the proposed budget is set against the backdrop of past and current years (2023 and 2024). Budget 2024, tagged “Budget of Reconstruction and Recovery ” is borne out of the need to reconstruct the damaged economy and infrastructural facilities of State and set a fiscal stimulus against the impact of global economic recession.
He confirmed that the presentation of yearly budget was in line with section 121 of the 1991 constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
According to him, “it should be noted 2025 budget will be 34th annual budget since this state was carved out of the old Oyo State on 27th August, 1999”.
“It is therefore important to buttress that what we are doing today is in line with constitutional provision as enshrined in Section 121(i) of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria ( as amended)” he added.
He appreciated the good people of Osun State who stand solidly behind the present administration and the PDP over the past two years. He assured that people of the state would continue to judiciously pursue the formulation and implementation of policies, programmes and projects that would soon bring about the restoration and sustainable growth of the state.
He confirmed that the presentation of 2025 proposed estimates are in line with the existing Osun State development plan.
The Governor said’ “our major focus therefore to meet the yearning of the good people of the state, complete all ongoing projects, and embark on new ones where critically necessary”.
He promised that his administration would give capital project and infrastructure a priority in the state.
The Speaker of the parliament, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun in his remarks promised that Budget of sustainable growth and transformation would be scrutinised by the lawmakers before its approval in the house.
He said that the budget would relieve burden of the people and give relief to the present hardship. He confirmed that members of Osun State House of Assembly are committed to the development of both people and state at large.
He also warned all ministries, departments and agencies (MDA’s) that thorough scrutiny would be given to the year 2025 budget during defence exercise. He assured the public that year 2025 budget would be well monitored by the state House of Assembly.
According to him, ” Osun House of Assembly committed to the development of both people and state at large”.
“Year 2025 budget estimates will be thoroughly scrutinised well in order to gear up MDA’s in the state” he added.
In his brief remarks, the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation Hon. Olumide Fatunmise noted that Governor Adeleke has complied with section 121 of 1999 constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. He confirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke meant well for the development and growth of the state while noted the huge success recorded in the last two years.
He also acknowledged the development drive of the State Governor to take Osun state to greater height and promised supports of the Legislature to the present administration while promised also to critically examine the proposed budget of the state.
Also, Hon. Olufemi Popoola and Hon. Kanmi Ajibola lauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for presenting year 2025 budget on time.They described Governor Ademola Adeleke as a person that understand democracy and promised to maintain mutual relationship in the state.
The Majority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly Hon. Babajide Kofoworola appreciated Gov. Ademola Adeleke for his timely presentation of year 2025 budget estimate before the lawmakers.
He promised to critically look into the estimate and do justice to it before passage. He lauded governor Ademola Adeleke infrastructural drive so far in the last two years in the state.
