Officers from the Health Records Registration Board of Nigeria, Abuja has visited the School of Health Technology, Lafia to inspect the facilities aimed at facilitating the process of accreditation of the courses on offer at the Institution.
The School which was established in July 2014, commenced learning activities in September. The School at present has about 380 students; offers five courses so far, and these include: Community Health; Environmental Health; Medical Laboratory Science; Health Information Management and Image Processing (Scanning and X-ray).
As a step forward to fulfill the requirements for the provision of full accreditation, the Board sent delegates led by Thomas Olayomi to the School to inspect health facilities available. After inspecting the facilities which include, Lecture Halls, Sick-bay, Laboratory and Computer rooms, among others, the leader of the delegates, expressed satisfaction with the facilities. He noted that the team will report and make appropriate recommendations to the Board based on what they saw on ground.
While speaking, the School’s Principal, Isa Salihu revealed that already, the facilities for Image processing, X-ray and Scanning were inspected in November, 2014, while that last exercise was strictly for Health Information Management , he said, Environmental Health courses are the next in line.
