FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State House of Assembly on Thursday 6th February 2025 called on the Benue State Government to take immediate and decisive action to end the ongoing genocide in Okpamaju of Okete ward, Otukpo Local Government Area, as well as deployed security agencies to Okpamaju Community to restore peace and other.
This followed a motion of urgent public importance by member representing Otukpo/ Apa State Constituency Hon. Kennedy Angbo informing the house that the Fulani herdsmen have invaded the Okpamaju Community in Okete Ward, Otukpo Local Government since Wednesday 5th February 2025, killing several people.
Contributing, Deputy Speaker Hon. Mrs Lami Dalandi said the invasion by herdsmen have caused havoc to several people in the State and urged the State government to work up modalities to nip the festering insecurity in the State in the bud.
