FIC Report (Abia State) – Troops of the 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Abia State have successfully discovered improvised Explosive devices in Umuchinma forest in the state .
In a statement issued by the Army Public Relations Officer Captain Mazinho Attah, it noted that it was part of the intensified efforts to curb the criminal activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB/ESN in the area.
It also stated that the troops of 14 Brigade Nigerian Army while conducting clearance operations along the Umuchinma pipeline route leading into the forest, discovered two Improvised Explosive Devices IEDs locally fabricated using 5kg gas cylinders, nails, water-gel explosives, two detonators, and electrical cables.
The statement further explained that further exploitation of the area by the troops led to the recovery of four empty cartridge cases and two bags containing nails.
According to the release, the Troops through credible intelligence provided by a suspect currently under investigation also successfully cleared a camp belonging to criminal elements.
The Brigade Commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ohafia, Brigadier General Ahmed Dikko, has expressed satisfaction with the professionalism, resilience and doggedness exhibited by the troops noting that the general security situation within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility has remained calm.
