FIC Report (Abia State) – Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the release of over 3.2 billion Naira to offset salary arrears of various parastatals in the State.
The Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo broke the cheering news while briefing the Press In Government House, Umuahia.
According to the Commissioner, the affected Parastatals and the amount released for them are as follows :
Abia Health Management Board (HMB) – N828 million, Secondary School Teachers – N983 million,
Abia State College of Education Technical (ASCETA) – 12 months arrears,
Abia Polytechnic Aba – 4 months subvention,
Abia Pensioners – N520 million, ABSUTH – 2 months subvention and
Abia State College of Health and Management Technology – 5 months subvention and N200 million grant to facilitate relocation to permanent site.
The Commissioner who informed that the payments have started since Thursday last week advised all the Parastatals concerned to ensure strict compliance to the directives and make the payments accordingly.
He disclosed that Parastatals in the State are going through reforms with a view to ensuring that they fulfill their obligations.
He described Governor Ikpeazu as a compassionate and listening Governor, who is committed to serving the State and working his transforming job till his last day in Office.
The Commissioner for Documentation and Strategic Communications, Mr Ugochukwu Emezue and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka were present at the Press Briefing.
In a related development, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has commissioned a civic centre, OVU UMULE built and handed over to the people of Umule community in Osisioma LGA by their son and Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor, Sir. Onyebuchi Ememanka.
Speaking while commissioning the civic centre, Governor Ikpeazu congratulated his Chief Press Secretary for achieving the feat and building the project for his people which would serve both as a community hall and health centre.
The Governor who commended sir Ememanka for his resilience and capacity asserted that the edifice will stand as a monument to remind Ndi Umule of “their period” in government.
The Governor assured that the Abia State government would equip the Health Centre with medical facilities while some indigenes of the community who read Health related courses are employed to work in the Health centre.
Earlier, the donor and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for assisting him in ensuring that his dream of building a befitting civic centre for his community was realized.
He explained that the Centre which is a storey building would serve two purposes adding that while the downstairs will serve as Community Hall and Community Health Centre, the upstairs is the Godwin and Susan Ememanka Memorial Auditorium in honour of his late parents, who did not only give birth to them but trained them to be useful in the society.
