Ikpeazu Swears-In New President of Abia State Customary Court Of Appeal, inaugurates Judicial Service Commission

FIC Centre (Abia State) – Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn- in the Honorable Justice Okey Iyke Nwamoh as the substantive President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal as well as inaugurated the newly reconstituted Judicial Service Commission.

Speaking after the Oaths of Office and Allegiance were administered on the President of the State Customary Court of Appeal, by the State Solicitor General, Lady Uzoamaka Ikonne and inauguration of the Members of the Judicial Service Commission at the Government House, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu charged the new President of the Court to maintain cordial relationship among the three arms of government in the State and uphold the place of the Judiciary in our democracy.

The Governor assured that the State Government will continue to support the Judiciary with all necessary tools that would make them succeed and expressed confidence that with his wealth of experience, he would add value to the Judiciary.

The Governor, who noted that the Members of the newly inaugurated Judiciary Service Commission were carefully selected enjoined them to bring their wealth of experience to bear, expressing confidence that they would not disappoint the People and Government of Abia State.

Responding on behalf of himself and Members of the newly reconstituted Judicial Service Commission, the President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal, Honorable Justice Okey Iyke Nwamoh thanked the Governor for the honour done him and assured that he will abide by the Oath of Office and Allegiance in the discharge of his duties.

He described the reconstitution of the Judiciary Service Commission as timely and pledged that the Members would discharge their duties judiciously.

Some of the Members of the reconstituted State Judicial Service Commission include Barrister Henry Balogu ,Barr. Mrs Ngozi Ukwuenyi and Mrs Joy Nwakanma, mni.

The Swearing-in ceremony attracted the presence of the Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, former Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Eric Acho Nwakanma, Secretary to Government, Barrister Chris Ezem, State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uche Ihediwa, SAN, Members of the State Executive Council, State Head of Service, Sir Onyi Wamah, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Sir Don Ubani, Judges and Magistrates of the Abia State Judiciary, former Presidents of the Customary Court of Appeal, Retired Justices, Anyalewechi Onwuchekwa and Stellamaris Ururuka Onyenso, former Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Hon Justice Igbozurike Akomas (Rtd) and other Dignitaries.
