FIC Report (Imo State) – The Imo State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough following an attack on a state-owned facility at Adapalm, with the neutralisation of a suspected member of the IPOB/ESN group and the recovery of arms and ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Owerri, noting that the incident occurred after armed individuals allegedly set fire to heavy machinery and equipment at the Adapalm facility in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area.
According to the Commissioner, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit responded promptly to a distress call and engaged the attackers in a gun duel. During the exchange, one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries and was later confirmed dead.
He further stated that the Command has since intensified security operations in the area to prevent further attacks and safeguard critical government assets.
In a follow-up operation, security operatives recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including assault rifles and live rounds, while additional raids conducted in parts of the state led to the discovery of explosive devices and the dismantling of criminal hideouts.
The Police Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at combating criminal activities and restoring peace across Imo State.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to maintaining safety and security in the state.
The Command assured the public of its readiness to protect lives and property, particularly as efforts are intensified to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all residents.
