The Joint Executive Council of Labour Unions of Ministry of Defence has commended the new Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni for the remarkable achievement recorded in the last 60 days of his assumption to office.
In a maiden meeting in Ship House, Abuja, Dr. Kana said that the welfare of staff, Personnel and their families remains a priority to ensure effective service delivery.
Dr. Kana noted that he is “ready to work together with the Unions to achieve positive results that will move the Ministry forward.”
The Permanent Secretary remarked that there will be prompt payment of allowances including death benefits, repatriation allowance for retiring staff, uniform allowance for nurses serving in Military hospitals and NYSC allowance.
According to Dr. Kana, government is revitalizing and reforming the health and education systems of the Ministry to safeguard the welfare of Military and civilian Personnel.
The Joint Executive Council (JEC) Chairman, Comrade Joyce Chime commended the Permanent Secretary for the cordial relation he has maintained with Union members and staff of the Ministry.
She appreciated him for the reconstitution of Staff Bus Committee that will ensure that buses are effective to convey staff to work and back home, promising that the staff and Joint Union will work with the Permanent Secretary for the advancement of the Ministry.
