Insecurity to be a thing of the past as Abia Government tackles it Headlong

Government says the recently upgraded General Hospital, Amachara and the Abia Specialist and Diagnostics Centre, Umuahia will be commissioned soon.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu stated this while briefing Journalists on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting. The Commissioner said that the development is the outcome of the state of emergency declared on the health sector by Governor Alex Otti in his inaugural speech.

He also disclosed that additional three (3) roads recently reconstructed by the government will be commissioned as soon as installation of Solar powered street lights are concluded.

Prince Kanu noted that the ongoing lighting up Abia project which has improved security of the state is also aimed at creating business opportunities for Abians and Investors alike.

“Government has been trying to create an enabling environment to make businesses to thrive, trying to ensure that those factors that create insecurity are avoided.

“Government is making the right investments in the right areas to ensure that there is security.

“When government provides appropriate infrastructure in the state, what government is doing is to attract investors that will invest in the state and create employment opportunities for the people.

“We believe that through that strategy people are gainfully employed in one way or security on the other hand issues of insecurity will be reduced,” he noted.

The Information Commissioner said that Abia State will actively participate in the South East Economic and Security Summit taking place on the 28th of this month in Owerri, Imo State, adding that the Dr Alex Otti’s government is committed to nipping in the bud criminality in every part of the state.

“The state government is taking deliberate actions to ensure that the state remain peaceful and stable,” he said.

Also contributing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Navy Commodore Macdonald Uba Rtd,said that the vision and mission of the Governor is to place Abia on the global map of which security of lives and properties are key.

He noted that there have been appreciable level of security in all parts of the state in recent times along Uturu and Umunneochi axis following the “Operation Crush initiative” recently launched by Governor Alex Otti.

Navy Commodore Uba noted that government in partnership with security operatives recently demolished shanties and other illegal structures where criminals use as hideout within Lokpanta axis and advised remaining criminals in the State to relocate as government will leave no stone unturned in making the State safe for all.

He reiterated that the administration was focused on tackling security challenges in the state, to create an enabling environment for Investors.
