The Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary Transportation (DOOPST) Mr. Musa Ibrahim has charged workers in the Ministry to be honest and transparent in the course of their duties, pointing out that integrity in the workplace benefits Government and it citizens.

The Director made this known during the occasion of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU)’s Sensitization/Enlightenment Workshop with the theme: “Institutionalized integrity, honesty and transparency in the workplace”. The workshop took place on 27th February 2025 in Abuja.

The DOOPST said the workshop was organised to sustain the tempo of zero tolerance for corruption and corrupt practices in the Federal Ministry of Transportation. Adding that, it is advantageous to foster the culture of integrity, honesty, and transparency in the workplace. “One is considered having integrity when one follows defined moral principles” He stressed.

Musa said, conscious efforts must be made on the part of the Anti-Graft Agencies to institute the culture of integrity at work as one of the veritable weapons to fight corruption to a stand still.
He was represented by the Director, Special Duties Dr. Vivian Nwosu.

Also, in her opening remarks, the Director Special Duties said, it is only when integrity, honesty and transparency of civil servants are respected and reinforced by leaders and society, with the political will to penalize non-compliance with ethical standards that corruption will begin to be uprooted and institutionalized in a sustainable way.

The Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu SAN, in his goodwill message, said corruption remains one of the greatest impediments to national development, eroding trust in institutions, stifling economic growth, and diminishing the effectiveness of governance.

He said, ICPC in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the federation (OHCSFS) established the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in 2001 with the objective to serve as an internal regulatory mechanism within Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

This, he said, plays a pivotal role in identifying operational lapses, addressing unethical practices, and sensitizing employees on anti-corruption measures, thus assisting management in building a transparent and ethical workforce.

He encourages ACTU to remain steadfast in its mission, working in synergy with management and staff to promote ethical conduct and enhance public trust. The Chairman urged the management of the Ministry to maintain unwavering support for ACTU with the necessary resources and institutional backing to drive impactful reforms.

The Chairman was represented by the Director, System Study & Review Department, ICPC, Olusegun Adigun.

During the program, presentation of gifts were made to some outstanding Directors and staff of the ministry as a way of encouraging and appreciating their services.
