The Director General, National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), Dr Emem Omokaro, reaffirms her commitments to engage strategic multi-sectoral partnerships with relevant stakeholders that will invest in the years of experience, skills and knowledge of senior citizens.
Emem, made this known while briefing delegates from the Uhrobo Leadership Forum in her office.
Omokaro, said that partnering with relevant stakeholders on the continuing engagement for older persons is part of life, because aging is a broad spectrum that we will love to improve on. We want to make it intergenerational so the experienced senior citizens can pass on years of experiences and knowledge to the youths.
“It is a brain trust to bring persons from different backgrounds and exchange ideas”. she opined.
She, further added that the centre will be more than willing to partner with the forum as the welfare of senior citizens is the primary purpose of its establishment.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, The President, Uhrobo Leadership Forum and Founder of ACE Broadcaster, Chief Peter Igho said that this forum is made up of prominent Nigerians, who retired from public service and are interested in recruiting young people to bridge intergenerational gaps.
“Nevertheless, we are glad to have NSCC, which is a safe refuge for many senior citizens,” Igho added.
The President, said that members of this forum are open to people who have distinguished themselves in different fields, though we are retired, we recruit young people in their 40s and 50s to have an inclusive society for all.
“The Urhobo Leadership Forum is a force to reckon with because of our national spread. We are not parochial. We don’t focus on only Urhobo issues. We interact and deal with national issues. We are ready to collaborate with NSCC to make Nigeria what we want it to be.
