The Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Zaphaniah Jisalo, has assured that with the recent autonomy granted Local Government administrations, the Ministry will ensure rapid development of the areas.

Jisalo, made this known yesterday in Abuja while addressing newsmen on the activities of the Ministry in the last nine months.

The Minister explained that henceforth funds released to Local Government Areas by the Federal Government will be published and monitored to ensure it is used for the purpose it was meant for.

According to him, this will not only promote transparency and accountability in Government business but will enable Stakeholders to know who to hold accountable for service failures.

He further stated that the autonomy would enable the third tier of government to have more funds needed for projects that would impact positively on the lives of rural dwellers, thereby enhancing national economic development.

He used the opportunity to once again appeal to Nigerians to shelve the planned national protests as it is a fact that most usually end up in anarchy and destruction of lives and properties. He, therefore enjoined all to have confidence in the ability of President Bola Tinubu to develop the country.

Jisalo expressed the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its present challenges and be counted among leading economies of the world.
