FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Kaduna State Government has requested support from the World Bank to improve its land management system and increase revenue.
This was announced during a meeting with a World Bank delegation led by Camille Bourguignon, Senior Land Administration Specialist, at the Government House in Kaduna.
The kaduna State Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening land governance and administration.
She noted that the state has already made significant progress in land administration and is eager to collaborate with the World Bank to enhance its systems.
Representing the Federal Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Dangiwa, ESV Collins Olushina Alabi, Director of the Lands and Housing Development Department, explained that the World Bank has been supporting the federal government in developing a national program, “Land for Growth,” aimed at improving land administration and titling nationwide.
He added that Kaduna State is one of the leading states in land management and is keen to participate in the program.
The Director General of Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Dr. Bashir Graba Ibrahim, presented the state’s proposal, emphasizing the need for support to upgrade land management software, enhance geospatial imaging, and improve revenue collection.
He mentioned that the state has introduced new revenue streams, including sectional titling and farm leasing, and is eager to expand services to rural areas.
A representative from the Kaduna State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development stated that the ministry is dedicated to supporting this initiative and is seeking support to establish a dedicated facility for town planning and regional development.
The World Bank delegation expressed its willingness to support Kaduna State and noted that its land administration system serves as a model for other states.
They committed to working with the state government to develop a program tailored to the state’s specific needs and to increase revenue.
The meeting concluded with a visit to Chikun Local Government Area, where the delegation met with local officials and stakeholders to discuss the program
