KANO (FIC Kano) – AbdulAzeez Garba Gafasa from Ajingi Local Government Area, emerged as the speaker of Kano 9th Legislature, unopposed.
The inauguration of the 9th legislature took place on Monday, 10th June, 2019; the outgoing Deputy Speaker, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, maintained his position as oath of office was taken by other elected members.
In his acceptance speech, AbdulAzeez Garba Gafasa appreciated members of the Assembly and assured them of his commitment to lead the affairs of the House with fairness and justice irrespective of their party affiliate.
The Speaker emphasised the need for members to maintain cordial relationship with the Executive Arm, as partners in progress.
Gafasa reassured people of the State that the House would do everything possible to enact laws that would have direct impact on ordinary citizens, stressing that the 9th Legislature would make sure that the House gets autonomy for easy and effective proceedings.
