Kano Education: Makoda Commends KERD's Transformative Year

FIC Report (Kano State) – Kano State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has praised the Director of the Kano Educational Resource Department (KERD), Hajiya Rabi Inuwa Hussain, for her remarkable achievements within one year of her tenure.

Speaking at an event held on Tuesday to mark the department’s one-year accomplishments, Dr. Makoda highlighted the significant strides made by KERD under the leadership of Hajiya Rabi. According to Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, Kano State, the event underscored the administration’s commitment to prioritizing education.

Dr. Makoda further emphasized that Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf’s dedication to education is evident in his proposal to allocate 31% of the 2025 budget to the sector. He noted this move aligns with the Governor’s declaration of a state of emergency on education, aimed at revitalizing the sector.

The Commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of the Kano State House of Assembly, particularly the House Committee on Education, for their unwavering support of the government’s policies. He commended the staff of KERD for their role in achieving these milestones and urged them to maintain their efforts.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Alhaji Baffa Bashir Muhammad, lauded the administration’s broader achievements in education. Meanwhile, Hajiya Rabi Inuwa Hussain attributed KERD’s success to the collective efforts of her team, noting that the department’s transformation has set a foundation for further advancements.

During the celebration, several projects initiated by the department were showcased, highlighting the transformative journey undertaken over the past year.
