FIC Report (Kano State) – The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has held its technical workshop and Town Hall meeting in Kano as part of its nationwide tour across the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.
The event, which was held at The Afficient Marque, Sultan Road, Kano, was aimed at strengthening collaboration with states to improve the ease of going business across the country and the event brought together key stakeholders from both public and private sectors within the state.
It was divided into two sessions both morning and afternoon, which featured across a section of stakeholders from the public and private sector across the state.
The morning session was attended by representatives from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) in the state, including Alhaji Shehu Sagagi, the Honourable commissioner for Investments, commerce and industry who was ably represented by Director Planning and Research, Engineer Nuruddeen Ahmad, Alhaji AbdulJabar Umar Garko, Honourable Commissioner for Land and Physical Development who was represented by Director ICT Hajiya Amina Ibrahim, Alhaji Muhammad Nasiru Ibrahim, Director General, Kano Investments Promotion Agency, Alhaji Tijjani Aliyu Danzabuwa. Acting Managing Director State Tourism Board, among others.
In his welcome address, the Director General Kano Investments Promotion Council (KAN INVEST), Alhaji Muhammad Naziru Ibrahim, reiterated the State Government commitment in supporting the the Federal Government various business reforms.
According to him, Kano, being the commercial nerve centre in the country, will always welcome new reforms introduced by the federal government in order to make Kano citizens improve in their business enterprise.
He therefore used the opportunity to commend President Bola Ahmad Tinubu for this initiative of PEBEC in the country and called on the people to make good use the opportunity.
In his address, the PEBEC team leader, Dr. Bello Adewale explained that PEBEC, as a development partner for the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER), will offer technical support to the subnationals in the area of ranking among the states.
Dr. Bello further disclosed that this year’s subnational ease of doing business reports will highlight the top (10) ten most business-friendly states. Adding that the PEBEC town hall engagement is not one-time iniatiave but rather an annual event held between May and June.
TECHNICAL SESSION
The technical session was chaired by representatives from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) across the state.
The penalists included.
- Hon. commissioner, investments commerce and industry.
- Hon. Commissioner, Land and Physical Development.
- Director General Investments and promotions Agency.
- Chairman, Kano internal revenue service (KIRS)
Each penalist spoke on various measures their respective agencies adopted to improve the ease of doing business in the state.
In his closing remarks, the acting Managing Director, Tourism development board, Alhaji Tijjani Aliyu Danzabuwa, commended the federal government for organising this important gathering in the state and called on the business community in the state to make good use of the opportunity provided to them in order to enhance and develop their businesses.
