FIC Report (Kano State) – The Kano State Executive Council, has approved the sum of N78,701,027.62, as contribution of the State government for the implementation of the year 2019 Health Work Plan.
The programme which is a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kano State Government, Dangote and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to improve child health is also intended to develop health care delivery services in the State.
While speaking at the occasion, the State Commissioner for Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba, stated that the multilateral MoU is being carried out by the state’s Ministry of Health, Hospital Management Board, Drug and Medical Consumable Supply Agency and the State Primary Health Care Management Board.
He added that the Council has also given approval for the release of the sum of N58,544,000.00 as counterpart funds on the activities of Kadgia Jama’are Komadugu Yobe Basin Trust – fund, saying that the Council has given authorization for a summit on community policing, to further consolidate on the giant strides taken by the Governor of the State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The Commissioner further revealed that a sweeping reform was underway at the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, following the executive approval for the amendment of the law establishing the Board to stream line its activities.
According to him, a bill would be sent to the State House of Assembly to that effect and the development follows the granting of license to the Board by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to carry out Umrah (lesser Hajj) services along with Hajj operations.
He also disclosed that the Council had sanctioned the constitution of technical committee to look into the issue of professional misconduct and abuse of privilege by mechanizations in the state; and has also approved the sum of N71,100.00 for further procurement of vehicles to conduct operations at RUGA settlement and grazing reserves in the state.
