Kano State Governor Donates N100m to Kantin Kwari Market Fire Victims

FIC Report (Kano State) – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has donated N100 million to victims of the recent fire incident at Kantin Kwari Textile market. The donation was announced during a commiseration visit to the market.

The Governor explained that the donation is not meant to compensate for the losses incurred but rather to mitigate the effects of the damages. This gesture demonstrates the state government’s commitment to supporting affected traders.

During the visit, Governor Yusuf pledged to improve market conditions. Planned improvements include the installation of solar lights, rehabilitation of the road network, construction of drainages, and provision of motorized boreholes.

The Managing Director of Kantin Kwari Market Management Board, Alhaji Hamisu Sa’ad Dogon Nama, reported that 29 shops were razed by the fire. He expressed gratitude to firefighters and responders for their quick intervention.

The chairman of the Market Elders Committee, Alhaji Sabu’u Bako, thanked Governor Yusuf for his concern and requested assistance in resolving ongoing operational issues affecting the market.

Governor Yusuf reassured the traders of the state government’s commitment to maintaining Kano’s status as the commercial hub of Northern Nigeria and surrounding West African countries.
