FIC Report (Kano State) – The Kano State Ministry of Education has pledged to collaborate with alumni of Old Boys Associations across the state to enhance the standard of education. This assurance was given by the State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, during a courtesy visit from the executive members of the Rumfa Old Boys Association, class ’94.
The Commissioner emphasized the need for collective efforts between government, individuals, and non-governmental organizations to address challenges in the education sector. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to declaring a state of emergency on education, demonstrating their resolve to find solutions to education problems.
To achieve this goal, the administration has implemented various initiatives, including the distribution of teaching materials, provision of school furniture, renovation and construction of new classrooms, training and retraining of staff, and recruitment of 17,600 security guards and local hunters to ensure maximum security in public schools.
The government’s education policy focuses on three key components: access, quality, and infrastructure development. This comprehensive approach aims to provide equal opportunities for all students, enhance the standard of education, and upgrade school facilities. The Rumfa Old Boys Association has also launched intervention programs to provide guidance, mentorship, and teaching facilities to current students.
The association plans to hold its 30th anniversary, where key stakeholders who contributed to education development in the state will receive awards of excellence. This partnership demonstrates a commitment to transforming the education sector through collaborative efforts. By working together, the government and stakeholders can create a conducive learning environment and improve education outcomes for students in Kano State.
