FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Kaduna State Deputy Governor Her Excellency, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, participated in the National Health Dialogue which took place at Fraser Suites, Abuja.
In a moderated session, the Deputy Governor informed her audience of the effort the Senator Uba Sani-led administration was making in the health sector which included an annual health budget of above 15%, the upgrading of many primary healthcare centers to level 2,, health access for many residents which is as high as 80% from 40% a few years back due to government policies of inclusion, more health infrastructure, and stability in security which has opened ways to previously inaccessible areas.
She also said that, among other things, the government recently employed about 1800 staff for the state primary healthcare centers in the state.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate discussed the state of healthcare in Nigeria and credited the current achievements to the Health Act of 2014 and the political will of President Ahmad Bola Tinubu.
He promised journalists that next year’s national budget on health will be closer to 6% than it will be to 5%.
At the Dialogue, state commissioners of health gave situation reports of their states especially on evidence and financing for the consideration of the meeting.
He also said they also gave commitments on their health financing priorities for 2026 on behalf of their states.
The Dialogue was organized by the Center for Journalism Innovation and Development and Premium Times, and funded by Gate Foundation and other partners under the theme, “Evidence, Innovation, and Financing for a Healthier Nigeria.
