The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo CON, has urged the new management of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Lagos to work assiduously to make it serves as a veritable revenue source for government.
The Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Evelyn Ngige, stated this during the formal handing over ceremony between the out-going Ag. Executive Director of Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Mr. Francis Dajilek and the in-coming Executive Director, Sir. Charles Onyeka Okoye, in her Office, Abuja.
“Your appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, is part of the renewed commitment of government to return the complex to its glory days, as the preferred venue for the hosting of trade fairs, exhibitions and other investment promotions, commerce and social activities adding that, it is my hope that you will bring to bear your wealth of experience in the management of the complex, in fulfillment of the hope and aspirations of government” Adebayo added.
He further stressed that as you are aware government is exploring avenues for increased revenue generation, particularly with the dwindling contributions from the oil and gas sector to the national economy, pointing out to the new management that the ministry would be expecting you and your team a practical blueprint that will outline ways and means, for which the Complex will serve as a veritable revenue source for the ministry and the country at large.
In his acceptance speech, the New Executive Director, Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Sir. Charles Onyeka Okoye, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, the Minister, the Minister of State and the Permanent Secretary for this opportunity and to consider this as a win for the entire youth constituency which he represent and determine to fully utilize and maximize the opportunities to prove that he is capable, credible and impactful leader.
He further assured the Minister, that he has the strength, mental energy and determination to surmount whatever challenges that comes his way.
Amb. Onyeka said he is aware of the enormity and gravity of responsibility that rests on the office which he is being appointed to administer.
He stressed his unbridled and unwavering commitment to seeing that he delivers satisfactorily to the best of his capacity, the duties and responsibilities expected of his office.
