FIC Report (Lagos State) – The Lagos State Government, in partnership with KAOUN International, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has kicked off the GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo and Future Economy Conference 2025. The event, held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, today the 3rd of September 2025 which brought together tech visionaries, decision-makers, and global tech leaders like IBM, Meta, MTN, AWS, and Cisco, along with homegrown startups.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the state government’s dedication to creating a future where innovation, technology, and digital solutions drive sustainable growth, inclusivity, and prosperity. He stated, “Today, as we explore the GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo and Future Economy Conference, we are doing more than just showcasing technology; we are building partnerships, sparking innovation, and laying the groundwork for Nigeria’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030.”

The Governor highlighted Lagos’ vibrant innovation ecosystem, fueled by supportive public policies, dynamic private enterprises, and a resilient startup culture. “Lagos is not just a city; it is a movement,” he said, citing the Financial Times’ recognition of 23 of Nigeria’s fastest-growing companies being based in Lagos.

Minister Tijani discussed the challenges posed by rapid urbanization in Lagos, which welcomes about 2,000 new residents daily, making strong digital infrastructure a pressing need. He announced government-backed initiatives to boost innovation and research, including a program starting October 1 to support 75 research projects in the digital sector.

“We must build a resilient global digital system that goes beyond merely keeping pace with developments if we are to secure our future in the digital economy,” Minister Tijani emphasized, stressing the importance of collaboration between startups, corporates, and government in scaling innovation and building resilience across Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
