FIC Report (Lagos State) – The Lagos State Government has announced plans to partner with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to develop a cutting-edge Convention Centre in Lekki, solidifying Lagos’ position as Africa’s premier commercial hub.

Speaking through his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu assured LCCI leaders of the government’s commitment to the project, saying, “The Lagos State Government will be able to work with you, particularly in building a world-class convention centre that will serve as a hub for business, trade exhibitions, conferences, and international events.”

The Convention Centre, slated for the Lekki-Epe expressway near “Alaro City”, is expected to boost local businesses, attract international events, and reinforce Lagos’ status as Africa’s go-to destination for commerce and innovation.

LCCI President, Engr. Leye Kupoluyi, praised the Governor’s vision, stating, “The engagement is not merely to renew the Hope Agenda but to reaffirm the need for continuous change in leadership and governance.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu also highlighted the state’s agricultural initiatives, revealing a five-year plan and 15-year development strategy, inviting LCCI to collaborate and contribute expertise.

“We’ve been speaking to commissioners across the country…our Ministry of Food Systems is very proactive, and the chamber is welcome to bring in their experience,” he said.

The partnership aims to strengthen Lagos’ food system, increase local production, and meet growing demand for agricultural products.

With this collaboration, Lagos takes a giant leap towards becoming Africa’s premier business and investment hub!
