LAGOS – (FIC Lagos Report) – The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo – Olu has approved the rehabilitation of 60 public schools in Lagos State to improve the standard and quality of education and education management in the State.
The report from the Federal Information Centre in Lagos affirmed that the State Commissioner in the Ministry of Education, Folashade Adeifsayo disclosed this during an interactive session with the staff of the Ministry on Monday October 28, 2019. She said that this would be done be to fulfill Sanwo – Olu’s inaugural promise to invest in the education of children and young adults within Lagos State.
According to her, the prject which he described as bold move by Sanwo – Olu will usher in hope for repositioning of the education sector.
The Assistant Director of Public Affairs in the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Kayode Sutton, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner averred that 10 schools from each of the education districts will benefit from the first phase of the project.
Adeifsayo emphasized that the project might not take off immediately, until due process are completed and completely adhered to by all stakeholders. According to her, Babajide Sanwo – Olu’s administration has resolved to introduce measures aimed at addressing three broad critical issues affecting the education sector in the State: the need to upgrade the teaching profession, the curriculum and school infrastructure.
He promised that the Government will ensure that public schools in Lagos State are made number one nationally and capable of competing globally with the much – needed skills, while preparing the youth for jobs tomorrow.
She also assured them of collaboration with industry, the Federal Government and the academia in updating the school curriculum in a manner that will reflect the current and future needs and influence positively the educational system in Lagos State.
