FIC Report (Bauchi State) – The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has pledged federal backing for Bauchi’s new six point seven billion naira Oil and Gas Academy saying it underscores President Bola Tinubu’s economic development drive as oil exploration resumes at Kolmani oil field.
At the groundbreaking of the academy in Alkaleri Local Government, senator Lokpobiri says the academy is a pipeline for skilled manpower and promised speedy certification approvals to ensure seamless operation.
The project which comprises classrooms, an ICT hub, library, clinic, cafeteria, administration block and perimeter fence is slated for completion within two years.
The Minister urged youths and women in Bauchi and Gombe states to seize the training opportunities, stressing that a technically competent workforce is vital to maximising the economic gains of Kolmani’s oil discovery.
Governor Bala Mohammed thanked the minister and Federal government for the support noting that the academy aligns with the state’s vision to become key players in Nigeria’s oil-and-gas value chain.
Bala Mohammed also called for more support in building the technical and vocational skills of youth and women towards effective service delivery in the Kolmani other oil industries.
The Governor who said the idea of establishing the academy was informed by the recent oil discovery in commercial quantity, commended President.
Bola Tinubu’s led administration for funding the project. In his address the state commissioner of Natural Resources Development Maiwada Bello assured that the ministry would monitor the project to ensure the contract is done inline the contract specification.
