The Honourable Minister of State for Health Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamora has stated that malaria has killed and continues to kill more people in Africa than HIV and COVID. Dr. Mamora made this statement when a team from Godrej Nigeria Limited, makers of GoodKnight Power Shots Insecticide paid him a courtesy visit, at the Federal Ministry of Health Headquarters in Abuja, with the intention of partnering with the Federal Government to give out 10,000 units of GoodKnight Power Shots Insecticide, as a way of giving back to the society and supporting government in the fight towards eradicating malaria.
The Minister who said that the greatest asset that any individual has is his health, reiterated the need to focus more attention to common issues that are not so common like malaria which is ravaging the people. “We are still talking about Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), they have become neglected because it is not attracting global attention. I am happy that you are partnering with the Ministry of Health in this regard, which is a corporate social responsibility because you are giving us 10,000 units of insecticides for free for a start. We really appreciate this gesture and don’t take it for granted. We do hope that this is just the beginning of other higher level of collaborations to work together in the service of our people”.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Mahmuda Mamman who was also present during the visit appreciated the team for choosing to partner with the Ministry and assured them that the donations will be judiciously utilized in the fight against the eradication of malaria.
The team leader, Mr. Kayode Oladapo, Head, Category Godrej Africa, USA and Middle East, informed the Minister of their intention to partner with the Government, not only in educating Nigerians on preventive measures, but also invest behind real community intervention, product donation, communication and public service announcement that will help re-sensitize Nigerians towards eradicating malaria.
