
The Minister of State, Ministry of Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari Ahamadu has commissioned and handed over major projects completed by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Borno State to Governor Zulum.
The projects are as follows:-
1 Newly Constructed Police Barracks in Konduga and Bama LGAs
a. Constructed Police Station with Amoury fully fortified in Konduga and Bama LGAs
c. Constructed Perimeter Fence and Gate House in Konduga and Bama LGAs
- Two (2) units of Excavator (Dredgers)
Supply of Building Materials:
a. Roofing Sheets 4,000 Bundles
b. Blocks (9″) 500,000 PCS
c. Blocks (6”) 300,000 PCS
d. Ceiling Board. 25,000 PCS
e. Nails. 4,000 Cartons
g. Cement. 10,000 bags
h. Reinforcement Rod Y12 – 2,500 PCS
i. Reinforcement Rod Y 20
4.Upgraded Borno State Central Medical Store to Pharma Grade standard
a. Installed 129.6Kwh Solar Hybrid Mini-grid System
c. Installed 300Kwh Back-up Generator
5.Renovated and Remodelled Female wards at Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital
Maiduguri, Borno State
6 Ultra Modern DSS Clinic
a. Constructed and Fully equipped DSS Ultra-Modern Clinic with 30Kwh Solar Mini-Grid
b. Constructed 2 Nos. of 3-bedroom Bungalows in Maiduguri, Borno State
7 ICT Centre at Agency for Mass Literacy
a. 50 Desktop Computers
b. Solar Mini Grid to power the facility at Agency for Mass Literacy
7 Fully Constructed and furnished Male and Female Wards, Theatre rooms at Dental Hospital, Maiduguri
8.Fully constructed and Furnished Male and Female Eye Hospital, Maiduguri.
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum who personally recieved the projects, commended the Federal Ministry of Regional Development and indeed the federal government for the feat it has achieved in the state, assuring that the projects would be utilized for the benefit of the people.
Earlier, the Minister had paid a courtesy visit to Governor Zulum in his office where he briefed him on the projects to be commissioned and handed over.
He revealed plans to work closely with the North East Governors Forum on a number of initiatives, such as the establishment of a North East Regional Airline, North East Rail Line linking the region to the Calabar Port, North East Pharmaceutical Company to locally produce essential medicines, and a North East Power Generation and Distribution Company to ensure energy security.
According to him, the Ministry also plans to introduce a North East Integrated Feed Mill and Poultry Company to drive agro-industrial growth and a North East Civil Engineering Company to create jobs and retain construction expertise within the region.
