Power Minister has Charged Civil servants to align themselves with the new philosophy of the civil service rules, which have been fashioned to produce the best out the Nigerian official workforce.
The Minister for Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu made the call on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the formal inaugural ceremony of the Ministry’s Performance Management System (PMS). The event was held at the Minister’s conference hall at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
Chief Adebayo represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mamman Mahmuda in his speech pointed out that civil servants have the duty and responsibility of ensuring that government policies and programmes were faithfully and effectively implemented so that such policies and programmes meet the needs, and the expectations of the people.
According to him, “This program came into existence some few years back and it is designed to ensure that we meet certain requirements in the performance and discharge of our duties as civil servants. The Head of Service of the Federation must be commended in this endeavors and we must all submit ourselves to the letters of this schedule, designed to get the best out of us in the discharge of our services to our father land”.
“On behalf of the Honourable Minister, who is unavoidable absent, I am delighted to inaugurate the Ministry’s chapter of the PMS Working Team.
Today is indeed historic and we must put all the structures needed for the System to function well.”
Further speaking, the Permanent Secretary, in his own remarks, noted that the PMS was officially designed to provide working schedule, setting targets, providing on-going support for employees, and measuring expectations, if sincerely and judiciously adhered to, will greatly help in improving the standard of the Civil Service of the Nation.
