Sokoto State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal had directed that all council chairmen must attend the evening review meetings during IPDs and that any one found defaulting would be sanctioned.
Tambuwal gave the directive at the National Immunization plus Days held at NYSC Orientation Camp, Wamakko.
In his remarks, the Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib noted that “Regrettably our routine immunization coverage is disusually low as shown by the results of recently conducted combined multi-indicators cluster and national immunization coverage survey” while pledging more vigorous oversight of polio campaigns with zero tolerance for low quality jobs.
In attendance were dignitaries from across the country, including members of the National Assembly, Sultan of Sokoto and neighbouring Governors.
