NDE Flags Off Employment Initiatives For Ekiti Youths

FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The Federal Government through the National Directorate of Employment, NDE has flagged off the renewed hope employment initiatives for not less than 93,731 unemployed and unskilled youths and residents across the country.

The NDE Director General Silas Ali Agara who dropped the hint during the flag off in Ado-Ekiti, the State Capital last week, explained that President Bola Tinubu was determined to engage youths in the country towards economic development and growth.

Represented by the State NDE Coordinator, Sanusi Akeem, the DG added that the initiative involved 10 youths in each of the Council wards in the country.

The beneficiaries would be recruited to benefit from the 30 skill sets across four core programmes.

He said various categories of unskilled and unemployed provided for within the framework of the programme included school leavers, school dropouts, women, graduates, retirees and persons with special needs among others.

He said some beneficiaries would be resettled into productive entrepreneurial lives through provision of tools, equipment and startup capital after training while those not resettled would be linked with credit granting institutions for support.

He commended the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for supporting NDE by providing starter packs for some beneficiaries across several schemes under the programme.
