NELFUND Alleviates Suffering Of 3281 Vulnerable FUOYE Students Beneficiaries –VC

FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Abayomi Fasina yesterday lauded the Federal Government for providing succour for 3281 vulnerable students of the institution through Nigera Education Loan Funds (NELFUND).

Prof Fasina disclosed that N305.757 million has been disbursed by NELFUND to beneficiaries in FUOYE, said that many students who were unable to pay their school fees have been relieved of the burden.

The Vice Chancellor stated this at a Pre -Convocation Press Conference held at the university campus to herald the 9th convocation ceremony of the institution.

According to Fasina, four notable Nigerians who have contributed to the development of the country would be given honorary doctorate award.

They included two former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federation, Senator Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN and Chief Christopher Adebayo Ojo, SAN, Mr. Segun Alebiosu, Managing Director, First Bank of Nigeria, as well as Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman, Air peace Airline.

The Vice Chancellor said that no fewer than 20 academic Staff have been promoted to the rank of Professor in the last three months, while six others would be promoted in the next one week.

“The promotion of over 1,900 academic and non-academic staff, underscores our commitment to the professional development and career advancement of our faculty.

“These promotions reflect not only the hard work of our Staff but also the recognition of their contributions to the intellectual and administrative life of the university.

“We’ve also made concerted efforts to enhance our teaching quality, ensuring that FUOYE offers world-class education that equips our students with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in the competitive global landscape.”

The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the university would launch ₦100 Billion Endowment Fundraising for infrastructural development of the institution.

Meanwhile, out of 8444 students graduating at the 9th convocation, a total of 177 students bagged first class.
