The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has officially welcomed its new Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam, following a formal handover ceremony held at the Ministry’s Conference Room, Radio House, Abuja on May 12 2025.
In his maiden remarks, Mr. Nnam expressed appreciation for the warm reception and acknowledged his longstanding relationship with some staff members. He noted that he looks forward to maintaining the peace and cooperation he experienced in his previous postings.
“I have known some of the wonderful people here for a long time, and I am confident that our working relationship will remain positive and productive,” Mr. Nnam stated. “The Ministry of Information and National Orientation plays a crucial role in disseminating government policies and programs. We must work as a team to deliver on our shared mandate.”
He further emphasized the need to intensify efforts toward implementing key reforms under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP25). Mr. Nnam noted that the Ministry is currently not live on the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform and stressed the urgency of aligning with the broader digital transformation goals of the civil service.
“We must rise to the occasion. The Ministry cannot lag behind while others move forward with reforms,” he asserted. “Let us all commit to working harder and smarter to meet our targets.”
In his handover remarks, Mr. Ibidapo Okunnu, Director of Production, Publication, and Documentation—who previously oversaw the office—outlined key ongoing initiatives within the Ministry. Chief among these is the Ministerial Press Briefing Series, organized as part of the build-up to the second anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. These briefings, coordinated by the Honourable Minister, serve to highlight the administration’s achievements and engage the public.
Mr. Okunnu also noted that preparations are in full swing for the May 29 anniversary celebration, with the National Communications Team—chaired by the Honourable Minister—holding a series of strategic meetings to ensure a successful nationwide public engagement.
The handover ceremony was attended by Directors and staff of the Ministry, who welcomed the new Permanent Secretary and pledged their support toward achieving the Ministry’s mandate.
