FIC Report (Niger State) – Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has evolved a strategic partnership with the National Association of Road Transport Owners NARTO to enhance road services in the state.
The farmer governor stated this when he received National Executive Council members of NARTO at the Government House Minna on a courtesy visit.
He described NARTO as a pivotal association to the nation’s growth, adding that, without roads, the economy will be in shambles while also acknowledging the association’s critical role in commuting to different places
The Governor also disclosed that plans are underway where motor parks will be established for owners of vehicles and commercial motor drivers to be registered and monitored accordingly.
Governor Bago said he has been collaborating with NARTO since his days as a Banker and has always been an advocate of what the association stands for.
Farmer Governor Umaru Bago also commended the National President of NARTO for his good works and also appreciated him for recognizing his efforts in road reconstruction, saying deeper collaborations will ensure the provision of dividends of democracy to the residents of the state .
Leader of the delegation and National President NARTO, Alhaji Yusuf Lawal Uthman said the Association remains grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinuu and Governor Umaru Bago for their immense support stressing that, the various road construction projects embarked upon by the farmer governor across the State is remarkable.
Alhaji Uthman who disclosed that NARTO has been involved in the movement and distribution of election materials since democratic dispensation in the country said the association will not relent.
He also expressed satisfaction with the governor’s strides in the reconstruction of the Minna-Bida road and advocated that the Federal Government provides alternative route through Tegina, Kagara and Birnin Gwari roads so as to allow effective reconstruction of the Bida road.
