In order to strengthen trade and economic bilateral co-operation between Nigeria and Italy, the two countries have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their trade and economic ties.
 The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo mni disclosed this when the Deputy Head of Mission, Italian Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Tarek Chazli paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
 The Permanent Secretary stated that Nigeria and Italy needed to strengthen their trade and economic co-operation, especially in the areas of Agro-allied industries, manufacturing, textile, leather, telecommunication as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs);.
 Dr. Gwarzo added other areas to be explored between the two Countries to include: Investments in export products; Industrial clusters; Information Communication Technology (ICT),; Industrial Processing Zones; Pharmaceuticals and Cultural co-operation among others.
Dr Gwarzo who was represented by the Director, Legal Services in the Ministry, Mrs. Bola Adewale disclosed that there was the need to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries to explore more areas of collaborations for their mutual socio-economic development.
 The Deputy Head of Mission, Italian Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Tarek Chazli in his welcome remarks said the delegation was in the Ministry to seek for more collaboration in order to strengthen trade and economic co-operation between Nigeria and Italy.
Mr. Chazli said one of the Italians companies Cappa and Dalberto had been in Nigeria since 1920 and done a lot of road constructions in Nigeria, noting that, the Italian Government just opened Italian Trade Agency (ITA) office in Lagos last week to strengthen business relationship between the two countries.
He further disclosed that Italian companies are in Nigeria to create more business opportunities and create more areas of collaboration to strengthen trade and economic development of the two Countries.
