The Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) has granted Water Use Licences to Nestle Nigeria Ltd.
The Acting Executive Director, NIWRMC, Mrs. Sakinatu Suleiman Abbo Jimeta while presenting the Water Use Licences to the beneficiary at her office in Abuja urged that the licences be used for the purposes for which they were granted as set out in the terms and conditions.
She said the company will be supervised by the Commission and the licences shall be revalidated after every two years.
According to Mrs Jimeta the Commission issues out licences to make sure water is being allocated to every users such as hydropower, Irrigation scheme and water supply for equity.
She added that the issuance of licences are mostly done based on catchment availability to make sure each user gets its own share without having conflict and to ensure sustainability.
The Higher Executive Manager of Nestle Nigeria Ltd., Mr. Location John, while receiving the licences from the Acting Executive Director assured the Commission that the Licences will be used for the purpose they were granted.
