
,,,,,,,,,,,,Focuses On National Values Re-Orientation, Flood Mitigation, The Nigerian Identity Project And National Symbols Among Others.
FIC Report (Delta State) – As part of the mandate establishing the National Orientation Agency NOA, Delta State Directorate of the agency, has flagged- off sensitization campaign on thematic areas covering National Values Re-Orientation for students in both secondary and tertiary institutions, flood mitigation, National Identity Project and National symbols as well as National Security Awareness aimed at achieving improved security consciousness in various communities across the nation’s 774 local government areas.
The Director General National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa- Onilu who was represented by the Director General Services, Mrs. Rebecca Nasamu during a press conference in Delta State Office of the agency, stated that NOA has expanded its messaging platforms to meet the diverse messaging platform requirement of our equally diverse audience demography, adding that in the current dispensation, the agency has re-invigorated its websites: www.noa.gov.ng and had equally deployed an artificial intelligence persona in the agency’s website and currently maintains presence on all social media platforms. This development, he noted has enabled NOA to meet the information needs of the public especially the younger generation.
According to the NOA DG, some of the thematic areas included; NELFUND students loan established by this current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the essence of the programme was to ensure that no Nigerian who has qualified to go to tertiary institution was prevented from doing so as a result of inability to pay school fees. He explained that under the NELFUND program, tuition fees are paid directly to the school on behalf of the successful applicants stating that over 600,000 students have keyed into the programme with over N59 billion naira so far disbursed. Also, he noted that over 2 million households have been enrolled for conditional cash transfer nationwide .
The NOA DG further noted that in the area of Federal Government renewed hope infrastructure fund, over N110 billion naira has been dedicated to support 150,000 youths across the country stressing that the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) was at the final stage to empower students doing industrial trainings at various establishments across the nation.
The NOA boss further stated that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Federal Government led administration released N3billion per State in 2024 to mitigate the flooding effect and help in drainage clearance and relocation of persons in affected areas. The NOA Director General also disclosed that under the Social Safety Nets Expansion Programme, in addition to the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), interest free loans of up to N100,000 and N300,000 were already in place for the public to access.
Mallam. Lanre Issa- Onilu further said that under the National Security architecture, the Chief of Defense Staff has directed the establishment of specialized units of the armed forces in in curbing security challenges in the country, calling on the States to carry out security and awareness campaigns across all local governments, towns and communities.
He called on students and youths to guide against extreme graduation practices which he noted, has not gone well with our values.
The DG also called on the citizens to be conscious of national symbols such as the Nigerian currency, national flag and national identity cards adding that these campaigns will be carried out across the 36 states of the Federation through town hall meetings, advocacy visit to schools, motor parks among others.
Earlier in her welcome address, the State Director NOA, Mrs. Tracy Ikolomi, thanked the guests and members of the press for honouring the invitation despite the short notice.
