FIC Report (Imo State) – The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf has assured the staff of Imo State NPC office of the complements of enhanced staff welfare as well as quality infrastructure to boost effective and optimal discharge of their duties.
He made this declaration during a working visit to the NPC office in Owerri, Imo State in the company of the Director – General of the Commission, Doctor Osifo Telson, the Director of the Public Affairs Department, Nma Alhaji Shehu and other senior officials.
Dr. Yusuf described his visit to the Imo State NPC office as part of a nationwide engagement tour geared towards strengthening stakeholder’s relations, staff welfare, and public sensitization on the commission’s activities.
The NPC Chairman reiterated his administration’s dedication to applying his 7-point Agenda which he noted has gained a wide approval within and outside the commission. The 7- point Agenda include; stakeholders Engagement, Participation And Public Confidence, Census Delivery, Civil Registration And Vital Statics (CRVS) Digitisation among others.
He went further to assure employees that their welfare remains his priority, adding that his visit to Imo State highlighted the agenda’s focus on stakeholders engagement, staff welfare and institutional strengthening. In his words:
“Let me assure you that staff welfare is at the heart of our mandate.”
He thanked the staff for their diligence in discharging their duties and encouraged them to keep supporting the leadership of the commission.
Dr. Yusuf gave assurances that funds will be sourced to renovate the Imo State NPC office and applauded the Federal Commissioner representing Imo State, Professor Uba Nnabue for his leadership qualities and cordial relationship with staff.
The Chairman also expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him and his team despite the short notice pertaining to the visit.
The Federal Commissioner representing Imo State, Prof . Uba Nnabue and his counterpart from Enugu State, Mr Ejike Ezeh as well as top management staff of the Imo State office welcomed and thanked the Chairman and his entourage for the visit.
Prof. Nnabue, in his address, stated that it has been more than fifteen (15) years since a sitting NPC Chairman visited the Imo office, adding that the visit will indeed boost the morale of staff and reaffirmed the office’s full support for the 7-point agenda of the Chairman.
He also commended the commission for assisting the Imo office acquire its own office property while drawing their attention to the dilapidated buildings and damaged office equipment which requires urgent renovation and re-equipping.
Prof. Nnabue gave a report on the 2025 MIni Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey ( MINI – NDHS) in Imo State, stating that the exercise was successfully completed without any record of injury or loss of life.
The Director General of the Commission in his remarks stated that in line with the commission’s Modernization Agenda, a circular for the full Implementation of digital birth and death registration across all states of the Federation will be issued by next month.
