FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – National Population Commission (NPC) said Over 28,000 birth certificates are ready for distribution in Nasarawa state.
The Chairman, National Population Commission NPC Nasir Kwarra disclose this during the flag-Off for the commencement of distribution of birth certificates by National population Commission to children across the country held at Government House Lafia recently.
The chairman of the commission explained that the exercise is part of the commission’s shared commitment to ensuring that every child is captured across the Country.
The exercise according to him, was in partnership with the Association of local Government of Nigeria ALGON, with the support of UNICEF to ensure children who are born across the seven hundred and seventy four local Government areas of the country were registered.
He described the birth registration exercise as a gateway to accessing good health, education, legal protection and inclusive foundation to national planning and other essential services across the Country.
Kwara further revealed that the symbolic handing over of the birth certificates to the ALGON executive represent the centralization process to bridging services to people especially at the grassroots’ level.
Governor Abdullahi Sule in his address during the flag-off exercises, appreciated the National population Commission and the UNICEF for the choice of Nasarawa State to be the pilot state for the flag off distribution of child birth certificates however showered accolade to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving the NPC the opportunity to carry out its official duties.
Earlier in his remark, the National president, Association of local Government of Nigeria ALGON Bello Lawal reiterated the commitment of chairmen of 774 local Government areas across the country towards championing the course of child birth registration.
They were Goodwill messages from the representative of UNICEF and the Emir of Lafia as well as the symbolic presentation of the certificates to local Government chairmen in Nasarawa state.
