FIC Report (Abia State) – In a decisive move to reassure residents ahead of the sensitive Biafra Day commemoration on May 30, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, has unveiled robust security measures to protect lives, property, and national infrastructure.
Commandant Akinsola Aderemi, who addressed the media today, May 29, 2025, emphasized that the Command is fully mobilized to maintain peace and order across the state. He disclosed that Rapid Response Squads, Tactical Teams, and the Counter-Terrorism Unit have been deployed to patrol identified black spots and potential flashpoints.
“All formations have been instructed to prioritize the security of their bases, and supervisors will closely monitor their teams to ensure strict adherence to operational directives,” the Commandant stated.
Commandant Aderemi issued a stern warning against violence and vandalism, noting that the NSCDC would not hesitate to act decisively against anyone attempting to breach public peace.
He added that the Command is collaborating with other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful close to the month. “We understand the concerns of the public and want to assure them that we have made adequate arrangements to ensure their safety and security,” he said.
Urging calm and cooperation, the NSCDC boss encouraged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear. He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to upholding law and order while protecting the rights of all citizens.
The NSCDC’s proactive stance comes as part of nationwide efforts to ensure that Biafra Day passes without incident in the Southeast and beyond.
