FIC Report (Abia State) – The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Ph.D., mni, OFR, embarked on an operational tour of Abia State to assess the performance of the Corps and strengthen its operational capacity across the state.
During his visit, the Commandant General addressed officers and men of the Corps at the parade ground of the Abia State Command headquarters, highlighting concerns over rising criminal activities and the threats posed by asymmetric warfare.
He emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and reiterated the Corps’ core mandate of protecting critical national infrastructure.
Professor Audi commended the State Commandant, CC Akinsola Aderemi, for effective leadership and commissioned a newly constructed office complex at the State Command headquarters, a significant step toward enhancing administrative efficiency.
In his address, the CG reassured personnel of the Corps’ commitment to continuous capacity development, prompt payment of entitlements, and improved welfare, including enhanced insurance coverage.
The Commandant General later paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, where he expressed appreciation for the state’s support towards the Corps.
In response, Governor Otti lauded the NSCDC for its professionalism and its role in maintaining public safety. He pledged his administration’s continued collaboration and support to the NSCDC and other security agencies operating within the state.
Professor Audi also noted that the activities of the Corps in Abia and nationwide are in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national security agenda, which seeks to safeguard lives, property, and the nation’s long-term stability.
