FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ekiti State Command, Toma Matthew Enya pslc has received officers and men who have recently undergone special training in crime fighting and subsequently launched them at the Command Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti.
The Rapid Response Squad RRS, which was conceived by the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR was created to respond to all forms of crime from members of the public in quick time.
In a statement signed by the Command PRO, Tolulope Afolabi Rescue System Numbers(RSN) to reduce response time to emergencies and deterrence would soon be rolled out.
They were to work in consonance with the core mandates of the Corps in the areas of protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, discouraging illegal mining, supervision of private guard companies for optimal performance, amongst others functions.
Commandant Toma Enya pslc charged the specially trained officers to adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and rules of engagement in all their operations for optimum service deliveries devoid of violations of fundamental human rights of the people.
The Commandant, who stressed the need to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of the people, urged the general public to know that the Rapid Respond Squad of NSCDC was trained to deter aggression, combat crimes, rescue operations, tactical operations and surveillance on Critical National Assets and Infrastructure including checkmating and discouraging illegal mining in the State.
