The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has reiterated that participatory governance, otherwise known as democracy, remains the best form of leadership globally.
Statement
In a statement delivered today, Thursday, in Yola, during the official opening of the newly-built Adamawa APC State Secretariat and the celebration of Democracy Day in the State, the NTAC boss called on Nigerians to recommit themselves to the fine tenets of democracy.
Importance of Democratic Governance
Rt. Hon. Buba emphasized that democracy is the bastion of civil leadership, upon which every form of development, national liberty, freedom of association, and free speech is hoisted. He noted that President Tinubu’s 4-D Foreign Policy Initiative, with “Democracy” as one of its cardinal points, underscores the importance of democratic governance.
Requirements for Sustaining Democracy
The DG highlighted the requirements for sustaining democracy, including:
- Periodic elections and participation therein
- Presence of the legislature and setting constant agendas
- Existence of an independent judicial system and maintenance of rule of law
- Presence of a free and vibrant press
Call to Action
The NTAC DG called on Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and other elected representatives to aid in delivering the vision for a New Nigeria.

The DG extended congratulations to all Nigerians and prayed for the sustenance of continuous democratic rule across the country.
