FIC Report (Delta State) – The Delta State Field Office of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, held an induction ceremony for its graduands under the auspices of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) on Monday, May 26th 2025. The event took place at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Asaba, Delta State.
Over 100 teacher trainees were officially inducted into the teaching profession, having completed their academic programmes under NTI’s Distance Learning Programme an initiative designed to provide in-service education for teachers. The NTI, established in 1976, continues to empower educators with updated knowledge and skills in curriculum delivery and pedagogical practices.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. James Chineye Edeh, the State Coordinator of NTI Delta State, expressed his delight in hosting the significant event. “This induction is a vital step for anyone intending to practice as a professional teacher in Nigeria,” he said. He also extended appreciation to TRCN officials for their presence and support during the program.
Mr. Edeh highlighted the evolution of NTI since its inception. “The institute began in 1976 offering the TCII and NCE programs. In 2005, we introduced the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), specifically designed for university graduates without teaching qualifications. All of these are delivered through our acclaimed Distance Learning System,” he explained.
He commended the institute’s longstanding commitment to teacher education and development, describing it as a pillar of educational growth in Nigeria.
The State Coordinator congratulated the 129 inductees, urging them to serve as worthy ambassadors of the teaching profession. The event featured an oath-taking ceremony, the presentation of induction certificates, and a group photograph with NTI officials and TRCN representatives.
