The Ogui-Agu Eke community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State has thrown its might behind Ecological Fund Office.
Led by its Chairman, Chief Hilary Nwabuisi, on a solidarity visit to EFO, Ogui-Agu Eke community commended the Permanent Secretary and entire staff of EFO for the project that was recently commissioned in the area,
pointing out that the road is the first intervention from the government through EFO and the only road linking Ogui-Agu Eke community to other communities.
While decrying the harassment method to prolong petitions from a section of Eke town, the Chairman apologized to the Permanent Secretary and entire staff of EFO. “We are behind you in this travails” he stated.
He noted that the petitions against EFO over the project were part of internal politics of Eke town.
Speaking further, Chief John Ezeako a member of the delegation declared his community’s readiness to support EFO wherever and whenever necessary.
He stated that a team of eminent sons and daughters of the Ogui-Agu Eke would be set up to follow up on the petitions written against EFO.
In her response, the Permanent Secretary explained in details the issues surrounding the project cited in Ogui-Agu Eke, pointing out that series of petitions had emanated from Eke town to various security organizations like EFCC and ICPC against EFO and the contractor that executed the project. She wondered why these petitions since the job had been executed and how the benefiting community – Ogui-Agu Eke community had kept quiet.
She explained that the project was sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Minister and the project fully executed and commissioned, wondering why the petitioners chose to malign EFO for no just cause rather than commendation. She urged the community to please clear the air on the issue as the project has been completed and commissioned.
The Permanent Secretary further urged them to settle the matter internally, perhaps by tabling it before the Igwe of the community and explain to him the implication of the action of a section of Eke town, which is that no project can come to their town again.
She also appealed to them to engage the petitioners and provide evidence that the project has been executed any time the occasion calls for it.
