Kano (FIC Kano) – Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has charged States Boundary Committees to ensure synergy with the State Governments, Traditional Institutions, Security Agencies and other stakeholders for peaceful definition of internal boundaries.
Governor Umar Ganduje who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, made this call while presenting keynote address at the opening ceremony of a one day interactive session of the National Boundary Commission and States Boundary Committees of the North West Zone held at the Government House Kano.
He explained that the North West States share so much in common which explains the interstate boundary disputes among various state of the federation; he said the spates of differences associated with boundaries are at low ebb compared to the other zones.
The Governor reminded the Committee of their enormous task ahead and further assured them of his administration’s continued support towards the National Boundary Commission in its effort to address the interstate boundary disputes in the North West Zone.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Acting Director General of the Commission, Surveyor Adam Adaji, said the Commission organised the meeting so as to sensitize Boundaries’ Managers on specific roles of the Commission and the Committees as well as duty required synergy at the Federal and State level.
He added that the major objective of the interactive session was to reach out with the state Boundary Committees who are partner with the National Boundary Commission on the area of boundary management in Nigeria.
