The Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGoF) has inaugurated its Procurement Planning Committee for proper implementation and execution of projects and programmes of action of the Office for the fiscal year 2021. The committee was inaugurated by the Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Surv. Samuel Adeniran Taiwo in the Conference Room, OSGoF Complex, Abuja.
In his remarks, Surv. Taiwo who would be chairing the committee comprising all the directors in the Office said the inauguration was in line with the procurement act of 2007 as he urged for due process in every stage of projects and programmes.
The SGoF directed departments and units to immediately prepare their work/action plans based on the money appropriated noting that approval would only be given for projects and programmes for which releases would be made. He reiterated that Office would not incur debt and as such would not honour project proposals without releases.
He also urged them to provide inventories and proper records of all the projects undertaken under their departments and units in appreciation of the oversight functions of the National Assembly.
Earlier, the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Emmanuel Aondoakaa announced that the Office recorded 100 per cent budget performance based on the revised 2020 budget.
The Head of the Procurement Unit of the Office, Alh. Sino Usman Buba in his remarks pointed out that the Procurement Act (PPA) 2007 Section 21 required a procurement entity to inaugurate a planning committee for each financial year.
Alh. Buba listed the accounting officer of the procuring entity; and representatives of the followings as members: The unit directly in requirement of the procurement; the financial unit; the Planning, Research and Statistics unit; technical personnel with expertize in the subject-matter for each particular procurement; the legal unit; and the procurement unit of the procurement entity serving as the secretary of the committee.
