FIC Report (Osun State) – Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, casted his vote today in the ongoing Local Government Elections across the state.
The Governor, who arrived at his polling unit in Sagba/Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, Ede, was accredited before exercising his civic right.
The election, which is expected to determine the leadership at the grassroots level, has witnessed a significant turnout of voters amidst tight security and electoral monitoring.
The Governor after casting his vote, urged all eligible voters to exercise their franchise peacefully and also emphasized the importance of grassroots democracy and called on the people to participate actively without fear or intimidation.
The Governor who described the Election process seamless, commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC, for a job well done thereby encouraging all and sundry to come out enmasse and vote peacefully, as this he said is a crucial step in strengthening the nation’s democracy at the local level.
Meanwhile, the residents of Osun State adhere strictly to the restriction of movement ordered by the State Governor, for the Local Government Election as some areas including Oja Oba, Aiyetoro, Ola Iya, Testing Ground, Governor’s office, Freedom Park, Dada Estate were characterized with few human and vehicular movement.
In the same vein, OSSIEC official were seen at polling units as earlier as possible while in some materials came late.
Security personel of the Nigerian Police Force and The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC were noticed at strategic locations in Osogbo the State Capital, Ikirun,Ilesa, Ile- ife, Ila Orangun among other towns to enforce Law and Order.
