
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has commended retired Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oloruntola, and four Directors for their exceptional service to the Ministry and Nigeria.
Speaking at their send-off ceremony, Oyetola, who was represented by his Technical Adviser, Dr. Charles Okaga, praised their professionalism, diligence, and integrity, highlighting Oloruntola’s role in developing the National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy and Nigeria’s return to the International Maritime Organization Category C seat after a 14-year hiatus.
He also acknowledged the Directors’ contributions to translating policy visions into practical outcomes.
The Head of Civil Service, Didi Walson-Jack, lauded the Minister for recognizing the retirees’ hard work, aligning with the Federal Government’s reward policy. She commended the Ministry for this bold initiative and encouraged other Ministries to follow suit.
The retirees include: Olufemi Oloruntola (Permanent Secretary), Babatunde Bombata (former Director, Maritime Safety and Security), Dr. Mercy Ilori (former Director, Maritime Services), Esifa Akon (former Director, Human Resource Management), and Opuama Paul (former Director, Fisheries and Aquaculture).
