PEBEC Holds Town Hall Meeting in Akure

FIC Report (Ondo State) – The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) hosted a pivotal Town Hall Meeting at the Heritage Hotel, Akure, the Ondo State capital, as part of its extensive nationwide tour across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The event brought together high-level stakeholders from both the public and private sectors in Ondo State to foster collaboration aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

In the opening address delivered by Barrister Emmanuel Omoo, Administrative Secretary of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), he stated that PEBEC is committed to solving problems by alleviating the concerns of stakeholders and creating an enabling environment for investment and business operations.

The event was structured into two key sessions. The morning session focused on an overview of PEBEC’s mission and the current state of the business environment in Ondo State.

The afternoon session featured an interactive engagement with officials from the Ondo State Government, where participants discussed ongoing reforms, existing challenges, and emerging opportunities in the state.

Panelists included:

Mr. Bayo Rojugbokan, Chairman, Ondo State Internal Revenue Service

Mr. Segun Awotangan, Representative, Ondo State Ministry of Trade and Commerce

Barrister Emmanuel Omoo, Administrative Secretary, ONDIPA

Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola, Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Government on Agriculture and Agribusiness

The interactive session was robust and insightful, addressing critical issues such as the availability and utilization of state-provided facilities and amenities that support local businesses. Discussions also touched on regulatory frameworks and the existence of underutilized agricultural support systems for local farmers.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Richard Alonge encouraged all stakeholders to reflect on the insights shared during the meeting and to embrace the opportunities presented.
