FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) as part of its nationwide tour across the 36 States, held a Technical Session and Statewide Townhall meeting on the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) at Lady Jibowu Hall, Governor’s office, Ado-Ekiti on 30th June,2025.
The event which had two sessions, brought together various stakeholders who held conversations on improving the ease of doing business and promoting state economic reforms.
The Director General of PEBEC, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, ably represented by Mr Sanusi A Sanusi in her opening address, welcomed all participants.
He described PEBEC as development partner and offering technical support on doing business at subnational level adding that PEBEC nationwide tour and Townhall meeting would become a yearly event across the States in the country.
He urged the participants to support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to drive investment and economic empowerment.
In his opening remark at the Private Sector Stakeholders Engagement session, Governor Abayomi Biodun Oyebanji, represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akin Oyebode welcomed the PEBEC team and the participants.
He highlighted various reform programmes of Ekiti State which were in line with PEBEC reforms and programmes that have given an ease of doing business in the state.
Mr Oluwasola Olabode from the PEBEC team played a video clip which analysed the aims and objectives of PEBEC across the States in the country.
He further gave an overview of what should be expected from PEBEC as part of efforts to create an enabling environment for business operations.
The Panel Discussion which included six Panelists from the state held discussions on various reforms, opportunities and challenges.
Among questions raised and answered were multiple and excessive taxation, inadequate accessibility to information and inadequate infrastructure among others.
The meeting ended with closing remarks by the Director of Finance and Budget, Mrs Lucy Bamisile with group photographs, complementing the event.
Stakeholders at the event included the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akin Oyebode; Director of Ekiti State Development and Investment Promotion Agency, Mrs Olabode Olutola; Special Adviser On Finance and Budget, Pro. James Olaleye; Director of Finance and Budget, Mrs Lucy Bamisile and SSA Advisor to the Governor on Technical Matters, Rev Ade Fasoyin among others.
